fashion trends for fashion outsiders

I won’t pretend to be Alexa Chung who may easily turn down LFW invites for catwalks, presentations or shows.  I am myself.  I have to watch these most coveted fashion events online at its best and I bet you are like me. I must say I hail down to Christopher Bailey of Burberry though, to make his Fall 2012 show available for us all and live…and it was sooo goood! Question is how to spot  fashion trends if we are not invited to any of these things and who needs to follow people who has first hand experience.  Easy.  Step outside and look around ladies:)  Biggest trend right now is street style and no matter where we live in the world if we can spot what young ones on the streets are wearing then we have a starting point. One other way is to check the windows. And that’s exactly what I did last week. Look here’s what I found in New Bond StreetLondon….

Spring 2012 Alexander McQueen

Louis Vuitton: They really know how to do windows

Mulberry…I want to have it all!

Dolce Gabbana

Miu Miu

There are many other brands, many other shop windows and so many other photos. However, I think what is covered  here is enough to make my case. The biggest Spring 2012 Fashion Trends at the moment, at least for me are:

Colours: Pastel or bright this season we will be wearing the spring all over ourselves. Mulberry made it to perfection with its candy colours and I have already spotted the same trend in high street brands like Urban Outfitters.

White: White is the new Black. It is funny how we manage to create “a new black” every season:)However, if you say I want to follow trends get a white dress even if not from L.Vuitton.  Remember Kate Moss in that lovely dress?

Prints: Prints are everywhere. This trend is living its golden age be it floral be it geometric or tribal inspired. Erdem is well known for his laser cut floral prints. Marni is always big with its big patterns (and now available at H&M, yaaay!). Prints are to be handled with care though. They are not for every body type and for every one but are really joyful and funny if treated right.

And the mega trend??? I do not know what you see when you look at these photos but for me it all boils down to romance. I really cannot think a better way to escape from austerity times to a better world than dreaming and romancing.
